Tools for Landscaping

gardening toolsIf you want to have the perfectly landscaped front yard, you'll need the proper tools to get the job done.  If you are a hands-on gardener, you'll want a shed full of the most common smaller tools needed for a well manicured lawn.  Otherwise, look into hiring a lawn service to save you time.  For larger projects, of course, you'll either want to hire someone or rent the equipment that you'll need.

One of the first tool investments that you'll make is a suitable lawn mower.  You want a lawnmower that not only cuts your grass but also meets your specific yard's needs.  A riding lawnmower is great for large expanses of grass, but might not be suitable to your yard once it is full landscaped.  If you have many areas of flowers, rocks, and bushes, you'll need a push mower to get into the tighter spaces.  If you will mow often and have a small area of grass, you might choose to use a reel mower to give your lawn a healthy look.

Of course, the lawnmower that you choose is simply one of your mowing tools.  For the best look, you'll also need edge trimmers and a weed whacker.

The more natural you want to keep your lawn, the more tools you'll need.  While spraying chemical weed killers and fertilizers are one way to maintain a green and weed-free lawn, many people choose a more natural approach.  The best tool you can have for weeding your lawn is a gardening claw.

A gardening claw is a handy multi-purpose tool.  This tool can easily loosen the roots of the weeds with its multi-pronged claw.  Since it also aerates your soil, this is the best way to weed your flower gardens.

In addition to a gardening claw, you should invest in several rakes.  Since rakes come in a variety of styles, sizes, and materials, you should keep a few on hand for every occasion.  You can use the rakes in your garden or on your lawn.

Of all your gardening tools, one of the best investments you can make is a high quality garden hose.  Find a length that can reach the far corners of your lawn, if you have a traditional-sized yard.  Purchase a hose caddy for convenient storage.  In addition to watering your lawn or washing your car, you can buy attachments to allow you to spray fertilizer or non-toxic pesticide on your flowers, trees, shrubs, and lawn.

Having the right gardening tools can save you time and effort as you landscape your front yard.
